R744.com visited ARBS 2010, the Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Building Services trade exhibition held last week in parallel with the 9th Gustav Lorentzen conference on Natural Working Fluids in Sydney, Australia. The exhibition provided a marketplace atmosphere in which to view and discuss latest HVAC&R building services products and services from over 200 local and international exhibitors.
In supermarket applications especially, R744.com found that CO2 is moving very fast - and faster than anticipated - when asking people on the trade floor.
R744 products at ARBS 2010
HEATCRAFT: For the first time displayed the Kirby CO2 commercial heat pump developed by enEX and featuring a Dorin compressor.
Bitzer: Showcased the Enviro-cold DX Hybrid CO2 packages for low temperature applications that have only a minimum medium temperature load and do not warrant the additional cost of liquid recirculation of CO2 for medium temperature cooling. The package features compact design, uses Octagon subcritical series of compressors, while all vessels have been designed to comply with the Australian standard AS-1210.
SWEP: SWEP presented their new B9 heat exchanger technology for transcritical CO2 and scalable up to 11kW as a gas cooler. Targeting the CO2 heat pump Eco Cute market, this heat exchanger is smaller, lighter and offers a lower price at higher COP.
CAREL: CAREL displayed R744 friendly solutions, including its EXV-sistema and MPXPRO, its cutting edge solution for the complete and integrated control of multiplexed showcases.
BOC: Part of the Linde group, BOC had a large booth showcasing their R744 refrigerant solution that is selling well in the Australian market. Caroline Rham, product manager refrigerants at BOC, stated "that BOC are the only company in Australia to supply R744 refrigerant with a unique guaranteed moisture content of less than 1 parts per million"
BAKER Refrigeration/EPTA: The BAKER Refrigeration stand showcased an EPTA R744 cascade system called ‘EPTAGREEN’. The system encompasses compact rack sizes with 3 or 4 compressors by Bitzer. The EPTAGREEN range of R744 cascade multi compressor units is very flexible in terms of mechanical components in order to satisfy customer needs as it is easy to access, install and maintain. For example, all filters have bypass facilities. Other features include plate heat exchangers for the condensation of CO2 with electronic expansion valves, while the company offers the option of soundproof housing for external installation.
AIREFRIG/ESSEN: AIREFRIG Australia showcased ESSEN R744 ball valves and sight glasses as well as the R744 Ice Flake Making system by German manufacturer MAJA.
COAST: The Australian distributor for 'Grant Ice Systems' also displayed a CO2 Flake Ice Making system. Called the CF-E series, it is available in several sizes from 1 Ton to 50 Ton capacities. The CF-E series is suited to contractors wanting to combine a single, or multiple evaporators together, operating on a common refrigeration plant.
