2013 is bringing several leading refrigeration and air conditioning conferences, workshops and trade shows around the world. We outline here some key events to add to your calendar. R744.com will be reporting from several of them to keep you up-to-date with the latest developments related to the use of natural refrigerant CO2.

North America

ASHRAE Winter Conference, Dallas, USA, 26-30 January: The conference programme will include sessions focusing on core HVAC&R systems and equipment, HVAC fundamentals and applications, standards, guidelines and codes, energy conservation, refrigeration, large building design, facility management, industrial & transportation ventilation.

AHR Expo, Dallas, USA, 28-30 January: Co-sponsored and held in conjunction with the ASHRAE Winter Conference, the AHR Expo will gather over 1,800 leading manufacturers and suppliers to showcase their latest innovative products, systems, software, services and more. Moreover, nearly 100 educational sessions, workshops, certification exams and product presentations will aim to provide professionals with insights to help them improve their business.

IIAR Industrial Refrigeration Conference, Colorado Springs, USA, 17-20 March: The event attracts a highly qualified audience of industrial refrigeration decision makers who represent hundreds of contracting firms and thousands of end user facilities from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Australia. A half-day CO2 training will focus on both CO2 cascade systems with ammonia and CO2 transcritical systems.

NRA Show 2013, Chicago, USA, 18-21 May: Produced by the National Restaurant Association, the NRA Show draws 58,000+ industry professionals from all 50 states and 100+ countries to Chicago each May - all seeking or showcasing the newest innovations and information about trends and issues in the restaurant, foodservice and hospitality industry.

ATMOsphere America 2013, Washington, USA, 17-19 June: The second edition of the ATMOsphere America conference will discuss natural refrigeration trends, latest technologies and regulatory issues in the US and Canada. More networking, more discussions and a summary report to be published right after the event will be new features for the 2013 edition.

 - Congress for Commercial and Industrial Refrigeration, Medellín, Colombia, 13 - 14
 June: The congress features a couple of days academic programming, keynote speeches, plant visits, Trade Shows and a Business Roundtable.

CIAR 2013 - Congreso Iberoamericano de Aire y la Refrigeración, Cartagena, Colombia, 22 - 24 July: The Latin American Congress of Air and Refrigeration features an academic programming, keynote speeches, plant visits, Trade Shows and a Business Roundtable.

FEBRAVA 2013, Sao Paulo, Brazil, 20-23 September: The main players in the Brazilian and international HVAC&R industry are expected to participate at the 18th edition of the FEBRAVA trade show.

Asia

ENEX 2013 / Smart Energy Japan 2013, Tokyo, Japan, 30 January - 1 February: ENEX2013 and Smart Energy Japan 2013 will be held concurrently based on the concept of a “low-carbon frontier” that contributes to the formation of a low-carbon society and the development of the energy industry.

2013 Supermarket Trade Show, Tokyo, Japan, 13 - 15 February: The best way to access Japanese supermarkets and retailers. Already in its 47th edition, the annual leading international trade show provides you with a platform for information collection and business meetings to increase your business opportunities.

ACREX India 2013, Mumbai, India, 7-9 March: The 14th edition of ACREX India themed "Dedicated to an eco-friendly environment" will offer a perfect platform for Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and allied Building Services to showcase technologically innovative, Environmental Friendly & Energy saving and sustainable products & services to meet the ever growing, demanding market of India.

HARFKO 2013, Koyang, Korea, 12 - 15 March: Heating, Air-Conditioning, Refrigeration and Fluid Exhibition - Korea 2013 (HARFKO) is being held biennially by Korea Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Industry Association in Seoul, Korea. HARFKO 2011 hosted around 179 companies, 885 booths from 23 countries and attracted a total of 21,546 visitors.

China Refrigeration Expo, Shanghai, Republic of China, 8-10 April: International exhibition for refrigeration, air-conditioning, heating and ventilation, frozen food processing, packaging and storage has been reputed as one of the leading exhibitions in HVAC&R industry for its over 20 years persistent improvement and innovation.

ATMOsphere Asia 2013, Tokyo, Japan, September (3-5 Feb, 2014): The first-ever Asian ATMOsphere Conference on Natural Refrigerants will be held in Japan and will aim to help bring the Asian technology faster to global markets and international suppliers to Asia. Cutting-edge technology and latest innovations will be the main focus of the presentations and discussions between, leading end-users, suppliers, academia and policy representatives.

Europe

Chillventa Rossija 2013, Moscow, 5 - 7 February: Chillventa Rossija will be focusing once again on the Russian market and in the process comprehensively covering the specialist disciplines in the industry. The main topics focus on technological innovation in the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps for commercial and industrial applications, and on the latest solutions and products for energy efficiency and clean energy development.

International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Ventilation and Refrigeration Exhibition, Madrid, Spain, 26 February - 1 March: This exhibition has become one of the most trusted benchmark fairs for the air-conditioning, heating and refrigeration sectors, worldwide.

ISH 2013, Frankfurt, Germany, 12 - 16 March: The ISH trade fair provides the world’s biggest showcase for innovative bathroom design, energy efficient heating and air-conditioning technology and renewable energies.

2nd IIR International Conference on Sustainability and the Cold Chain, Paris, France, 2 - 4 April: The topics to be addressed include storage, transportation and logistics, progress in commercial refrigeration, pharmaceutical cold chain, refrigerants and refrigeration in the future, energy efficiency, cold chain in developing countries and more.

6th EHPA European Heat Pump Forum 2013, Brussels, Belgium, 15 May: The annual Forum organised by EHPA, brings together EU decision makers, industry experts and European heat pump manufacturers. The 6th edition will focus, amongst others, on the most recent EU policy developments from Ecodesign, Energy Labeling, F-Gas Regulation and RES targets beyond 2020. Next to that, there will be sessions on developments in hybrid systems, smart grid solutions and a future outlook of the heat pump market.

15th European Conference Latest Technologies in Refrigeration and AC, Milan, Italy, 7 - 8 June: The conference will discuss the latest technology in AC and refrigeration industry, energy issues and climate change, new refrigerants, new European regulations, new plants etc.

European Heat Pump Summit, Nürnberg, Germany, 15 – 16 October

Cold Chain Forum, Paris, France, 23-24 October: Supported by the major professional associations the forum is a platform for information and exchanges. It brings national and international expertise to all those in the food processing and medical industries in relation to the management of refrigerated fluids and the optimization of energy processes.

ATMOsphere Europe 2013, Brussels, Belgium, October (dates to be confirmed): The 5th edition of the natural refrigeration conference and workshop will bring together key people from European policy with the suppliers and end users in the HVAC&R industry to talk about natural refrigerants as a viable solution to f-gases across Europe.

Interclima+elec, Paris, France, 4 – 6 November: Every two years in Paris, this is the landmark event where the entire trade community (installers, contractors, architects, engineers, distributors) have the opportunity to discover the most innovative solutions which combine energy efficiency, use of renewables and comfort in HVAC & refrigeration, home & building management systems.
