Kimessa launches new generation robust CO2 gas detector for cost effective gas monitoring in the refrigeration sector

CANline-BUS concept

The CANline-BUS concept is a gas detection solution suitable for CO2 . Up to 32 gas detectors can share the same BUS cable, including CO2, NH3 and natural gas detectors. The BUS cable allows for easy installation and expandability, and has already reached its 500th installation in Europe.

The CANline-BUS features the following new components, designed to increase the system’s overall useability and flexibility:

CM 04 Gas Monitor (new)
  • User-friendly gas monitor for up to 4 different gas-type detectors (expandable)
  • 4-20mA detectors and Kimessa CANBUS-Components
  • Manual programming in seconds with innovative touch button-system
  • 5 potential volt-free relay outputs (expandable)
  • IP54 wall mounting enclosure

CANline Touch-Display (new)

  • Graphic touch screen to display the gas concentration of each detector
  • Automatic gas-logging alarm consisting of a pre-alarm, main-alarm and faults, for a period of up to 12 months
  • Automatic plug and play setup
  • Wall mounting enclosure for mounting on the control cabinet door
  • Option to be integrated in the BUS wiring as any other CANBUS component
  • ModBUS interface on board

Smart GSxM Gas Detectors (new)
  • Smart gas detector with 3 potential free relays and OLED-display
  • Supply: 24VDC or 230VAC
  • User selectable outputs, standalone, 0-20mA, 4-20mA, 0-10V and digital CAN-BUS
  • For pellistor, electrochemical and NDIR sensors
  • One person annual calibration
  • Designed for non-intrusive calibration with a HAL-Magnet pen
  • Robust metallic enclosure with an option available in stainless-steel
  • Can be used in conjunction with remote displays for local real time visual data

Advantages of the CANline-BUS concept

Some advantages of the CANline-BUS concept are its low installation cost, flexible BUS wiring for up to 32 detectors and the Kimessa BUS audio visual alarm (4x1mm2, max. 1,200m).

Other features and advantages include:

  • Unique Kimessa ‘adaptor’ to facilitate integration of third party 4-20mA detectors onto the digital BUS (e.g., temperature, humidity, etc.)
  • Remote visual displays, relay cards and analogue in/outputs promote the system’s flexibility, reaching into any zone on the digital BUS
  • Field mounted Alarming Unit (CWE) facilitates integration of any 24 VDC-alarming component onto the BUS line, avoiding the need for a separate 24Vdc power supply
  • Programming of parameters such as alarm limits (4 per detector), relay status, time delays on & off, hysteresis values, etc are readily stored for retrieval.
  • Internal logging of gas alarm events provides intelligence updates while real-time data logging of detector readings via the RS-232 is accessible with optional BUS outputs (ModBUS, ProfiBUS, EtherNet/IP, etc) or could be used for a individual programmable realtime-visualisation to a computer

The new KSIM 1090 CO2 Gas Detector

The CANline facilitates zoning of detectors, gas alarm data logging, programmable remote visual displays to provide data streams to loggers, and a novel ‘service now’ function to issue maintenance alerts.

Basic specifications for the KSIM CO2 Gas Detector:

  • Lifelong reliable infrared sensor technology
  • Optional measuring ranges, from 5,000ppm to 5.0% volume
  • Temperature compensation and linearised output
  • User selectable outputs, 0-20mA, 4-20mA, 0-10V and digital CAN-BUS
  • One person annual calibration
  • Operating temperature range -30 to +70ºC
  • Robust metallic enclosure with IP65
  • Can be used in conjunction with remote displays for local real time visual data

BUS Audio Visual Alarm – CANline CWE

Audio visual alarm installation can be simplified by mounting the CWE on the detector BUS cable. The CWE has a 24 VDC-output for a lamp/flash light and a 24 VDC output for an alarm horn, which can be allocated to individual or detector groups by alarm threshold. The individual programming options for both the sounder and flashing light are ideal when located in a public area.

The CWE incorporates:

  • A programmable relay to drive local electrical devices such as a slam shut valve, a ventilation, etc.
  • A built-on flash light (type CWE 67) and a buzzer, so no additional alarming components are necessary (optional)
  • Informative visual red LED display signs (type LW46) with power supplied via the BUS, with customisable text ideal for mounting before the monitoring zone (e.g. “CO2-Alarm – No entry” mounted before a cold-store).
