New hypermarket equipped with EPTA technology opens in Spain

A new ESCLAT hypermarket fully equipped with EPTA commercial refrigeration technology opened its doors on 21 May in Salou near Tarragona province in Spain. The new store, located in a region of high ambient temperatures, features an EPTAGREEN system, EPTA’s CO2 cascade technology. The CO2 installation provides a number of advantages: as well as being a sustainable technology, it is not subject to the Spanish HFC tax.

Energy consumption reduced even in high ambient climate temperature
EPTAGREEN, the heart of ESCLAT’s CO2 system, is equipped with the following:
  • 4 Bitzer compressors, providing 160 kW capacity
  • Carel PCO3 electronic controller.
  • HP&LP pressostats, which maintain unit function in case of controller failure
  • Danfoss EKC312 controllers, which manage the CO2 condensation
The MT powerpack is an EPTABERG Multispeed, assembled on an optimised frame for maximum vibration reduction to avoid refrigerant leaks. The primary circuit of the powerpack uses R134a, while the cascade solution works with subcritical pressures, proving both suitable and efficient in the ambient climate of Spain. This achieves considerable energy savings and reduces the noise generated.
The refrigerating power is generated by the demand of MT cabinets and coldrooms as well as by the CO2 plate heat exchanger on the unit. EPTABERG is delivered with a complete factory-installed, pre-cabled electric control board complete with a Carel controller. The oil regulation system is managed electronically.
Other EPTA systems keeping cool in ESCLAT
In addition to centralized CO2 system, the store features several other EPTA refrigeration products in the sales area. These include the brand new GRANVISTA vertical multideck chiller, which combines innovation in merchandising, technology and performance. Another is the BELUGA, a plug-in cabinet using R290, combining the merchandising and display visibility of a remote freezer with the advantages of a cost effective and natural refrigerant.
