Supermarket program set for U.S. industrial conference

NASRC issues agenda for the first Commercial & Food Retail Program to be part of the IIAR Natural Refrigeration Conference & Expo in Phoenix next month.

The North American Sustainable Refrigeration Council (NASRC) has released the agenda for its first Commercial & Food Retail Program, which will be incorporated into the 2019 IIAR Natural Refrigeration Conference & Expo, scheduled for March 3-6 in Phoenix, Ariz.

While the IIAR Conference & Expo has traditionally focused on the industrial sector, the new track will feature industry experts in commercial refrigeration, including end users and contractors, in a series of technical presentations, and panel discussions.

The presentations include:

  • Propane/Carbon Dioxide Cascade Refrigeration System: This presentation will focus on Whole Foods Market’s propane/CO2 cascade system, installed in 2016 at a store in Santa Clara, Calif., the only such installation in the U.S. Speakers will include Tristam Coffin, Whole Foods Market; Keilly Witman, KW Refrigerant Management Strategy; and Tom Wolgamot, DC Engineering.
  • Supermarket Experiences With Low-Charge Ammonia/CO2This panel discussion will include end-users who have adopted or are planning to adopt an ammonia/CO2 cascade system, including Tristam Coffin, Whole Foods Market; Ed Estberg, Raley’s; and Rob Arthur, CTA Architects (representing the Defense Commissary Agency.
  • Is Commercial Service Readiness A Barrier To Adoption of Natural Refrigerants?: A panel composed of end users and service contractors will explore this question Panelists include Ryan Welty, South-Twon Refrigeration & Mechanical; Todd Ernest, Climate Pros; Mike Ellinger, Whole Foods Market; and Pete Marotta, Grocery Outlet.
