Advanced Thermal Sciences (ATS), a Tokyo-based supplier of temperature-control systems (TCS) like CO2 (R744)-based chillers, has joined the world’s leading CO2 HVAC&R stakeholders as a bronze partner of the R744.com marketplace.

With over 25 years in the temperature control industry, ATS is the “supplier of choice” for the semiconductor industry, with thousands of units installed by leading manufacturers around the world, the company noted. ATS also provides TCS for the aerospace and food and beverage sectors, among others.

ATS, part of Collins Aerospace, has grown through a series of acquisitions and mergers.

“Our state-of-the-art technology, reliability and product offerings make us your one source for temperature-control systems,” said ATS. “With the backing of a multi-billion-dollar corporation, [the] advanced technology requirements [of] tomorrow’s processes are here today.”

ATS CO2 chillers

Its GX Series of high-performing CO2 chillers work within a broad operating range of -20°C (-4°F) to 70°C (158°F). These units have a cooling capacity of up to 10kW (2.8TR) at -10°C (14°F).

Developed in 2019, ATS’s GX-20 chiller was the first chiller in the semiconductor industry to use CO2, according to the company.

As of October 2021, ATS had sold 70 of its GX-20 CO2 chillers, with the majority of these units going to the European market. At the time, an additional 85 units were waiting to be manufactured and delivered.

In addition to the GX-20 model, ATS is in the process of bringing its GX-100 and GX-2020 units to market.

The GX-100 has been designed to meet the needs of end users that require more power, while the GX-2020 is a dual chiller that contains two 2HP modules of the GX-20 and was developed to meet the demand for a compact, two-loop brine system.

At the heart of ATS’s GX chillers is a CO2 compressor manufactured by Panasonic.
