German compressor manufacturer BOCK has unveiled a new semi-hermetic reciprocating compressor series for transcritical CO2 (R744) systems in small capacity ranges, the HGX12 CO2 T.
The new two-cylinder HGX12 CO2 T series follows the four-cylinder HGX24 CO2 T line, also considered a low-capacity option, that was released about a year ago. BOCK also offers larger-capacity transcritical CO2 compressor series, HGX34 CO2 T and HGX46 CO2 T.
“We have developed the HGX12 CO2 T in order to be able to offer an even wider range of CO2 compressors and to make an even greater contribution to the more sustainable use of compressors with natural refrigerants,” said BOCK in a statement on Its website on January 17.
The HGX12 CO2 T series is designed for food refrigeration, bus and rail air conditioning and other applications, said BOCK.
According to a BOCK brochure, the HGX12 CO2 T offers displacement of 1.7 – 3.5m3/h (60 – 123.6ft3/h) over three capacity stages while the HGX24 CO2 T compressors deliver displacement of 4.6 – 9.4m3/h (162.4 – 332ft3/h) over four capacity stages. Together, they provide stationary cooling capacities of 2 – 26kW (0.6 – 7.4TR) and stationary heating capacities of 4 – 48kW, as well as 5 – 43kW (1.4 – 12.2TR) of mobile air-conditioning and 3 – 35kW of mobile heating capacities.
BOCK’s full range of transcritical and subcritical CO2 compressors are aimed at commercial and industrial applications of air-conditioning, refrigeration and heat pumps, both stationary and mobile.
