German compressor manufacturer BOCK has appointed Stephan Schumann new Managing Director for Sales & Marketing.

Together with CEO Marcus Albrecht, Schumann will make up a new dual leadership team for BOCK, which specializes in compressors for natural refrigerants like CO2 (R744). Stephan Schumann is a business economist and has many years of experience in the capital goods industry, according to a statement from BOCK.

In his latest role, Schumann was managing director of a “medium-sized company, where he was responsible for leading the global sales team and successfully implementing the growth strategy,” BOCK stated.

“I am very much looking forward to working with Stephan Schumann and our dedicated employees to sustainably secure, and further expand, the leading role of the traditional BOCK brand in the international compressor business,” said Albrecht, who is responsible for Finance, Supply Chain, Human Resources and R&D.

The new leadership structure sees BOCK opening up new growth areas, further expanding its global sales team and identifying potential partnerships and new collaborations, the company said.

“In doing so, we will focus specifically on the future market for environmentally friendly and economical compressor technologies for the use of natural refrigerants such as CO2,” said Schumann.

CO2 and hydrocarbon compressors

BOCK manufactures CO2 refrigeration compressors for both subcritical and transcritical applications. The largest CO2 compressor currently in the BOCK portfolio, the 6-cylinder  HGX46, is available in swept volumes up to 38.2 m3/h (50 HZ).

The company has also recently launched a new smaller transcritical CO2 compressor, the 2-cylinder HGX12 T, which is designed for food refrigeration and mobile air conditioning for buses and trains. It offers displacement of 1.7 – 3.5m3/h (60 – 123.6ft3/h) over three capacity stages.

BOCK also manufactures semi-hermetic hydrocarbon compressors for propane (R290) and propene (R1270).
