Italy-based component manufacturer CAREL’s board of directors last week named Giandomenico Lombello, group sales and marketing director, as the new managing director.

Lombello replaces Francesco Nalini, who will stay CAREL’s group CEO, and will report to Nalini.

“It is a great honour for me to accept this new role and to assist Francesco Nalini,” Lombello said. “I hope to meet the expectations of the board of directors and to interpret this role in the best possible way. My goals are very clear, and concern investors, customers and all CAREL employees.”

CAREL, in its press release, states that the appointment is about strengthening the administrative structure of the Group and protecting the operational process in a period of high growth for the Italian multinational.

Some of the component manufacturers’ growth has been thanks to natural refrigerants. It tripled the number of energy-efficient CO2–based refrigeration projects with DC inverter technology in 2018.

Lombello studied  electrical engineering, at the University of Padua, and has four years’ experience in the biomedical sector. He joined CAREL in 1988 and held various positions before becoming marketing director in 2008.
