The Cash Directo supermarket inaugurated its first store in Mula, Murcia and wasted no time making a sustainable statement. The 3500m2 store is equipped with ten cooler display cases and sixteen freezing islands from Eurofred, using CO2 and R290.
With the new store, Cash Directo also introduced a new business model that includes the ‘cash & carry’, but instead designed for individual consumers.
In addition to positioning themselves as highly efficient solutions, the systems are also exempt from the Spanish f-gas tax throughout their lifecycle, unlike HFC systems. In 2016, Cash Directo is planning to open three new stores with similar features as the Mula shop.
Eurofred’s CO2 display cases are user friendly and ensure maximum security of the installation. The units produce cooling independently eliminating the need for a remote centralised system.
Thanks to this autonomy, the installation is easier and costs related to installation, commissioning and maintenance are lower. Another advantage of the autonomy is that in the event of a malfunction or leak, the problem is isolated to the solitary unit.
Cash Directo also has 16 freezing islands operating at a temperature in the range of –18°C to –23°C. These units ensure low energy consumption levels thanks to its inverter compressor and the use of propane as the refrigerant.
The project has also become a milestone for Eurofred as this is its first installation of a freestanding system using CO2 as a refrigerant.
Main features at the Mula store:
- 10 Panda CO2 L 2500 cooler displays
- 8 Tahiti 210 freezing islands
- 8 Tahiti 250 freezing islands
- 23% energy savings achieved compared to a traditional HFC system
- Annual CO2 emission reductions of 10,51 Tn (emission factor: 0.45 Kg CO2eq/kWh)
