President of Carrier Global Corporation’s refrigeration segment, David Appel will be stepping down from his role, and take over the reins at Carrier Commercial Refrigeration (CCR) instead.

Appel is being replaced by Timothy White, and the changeover will take effect on August 16, Carrier announced on July 15.  White comes from a role as CEO at Onshore Wind Americas.

Appel (65) has been the president of Carrier’s refrigeration segment since 2010. Before that, Appel has filled roles as president of building systems and services, and later HVAC in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

“I want to extend my sincere thanks to David for his decade-long leadership of the Refrigeration business,” said Dave Gitlin, Chairman & CEO of Carrier.

“We will continue to lean on his expertise to lead the Commercial Refrigeration business where his long-standing knowledge and focus on strategic customer-centric execution will drive operational efficiencies and deliver best-in-class financial performance.”

Carrier’s refrigeration segment includes CCR and the transport refrigeration section. CCR produces high-efficiency turnkey CO2 refrigeration solutions, including the PowerCO2OL platform. The transport section includes Carrier Transicold, which manufactures the CO2 NATURALINE containers.
