Italian compressor manufacturer Dorin has introduced a new range of transcritical CO2 (R744) compressors for industrial applications.

The new compressors, which are part of Dorin’s CD600 range, have six cylinders and cover up to 160hp and 100m3/h (3,531.5ft3/h). Previous models covered up to 100hp and 98.6m3/h (3,482ft3/h).

While having the same footprint as earlier models, the new compressors offer up to 200kW (56.9TR) in “typical” medium-temperature conditions and have a higher COP. They also have frequency drive capability.

“With this new range of compressors, Dorin sets a new benchmark for industrial [transcritical CO2] applications, allowing [R744] to be one of the most cost-effective and efficient solutions when it comes to large [capacities],” said the manufacturer. “[Having fewer] cylinders doesn’t mean less power.”

The new range of transcritical CO2 compressors is “fully released” and has been installed in large quantities, it added.

“Dorin is fully available to provide the best compressor and application engineering support to all our business partners to ensure safe compressor operation and flawless system design,” it said.

The CD range was originally launched in 2015, and in 2021, Dorin won the 2021 AHR Award in the refrigeration category for the CD600 range.
