Last week (29 June 2018) leading German refrigeration company, ENGIE Refrigeration GmbH (formerly Cofely Refrigeration GmbH), acquired the CO2 high temperature heat pump activities of the German manufacturer Hafner-Muschler Kälte-und Klimatechnik through purchasing its insolvency assets.
The assets purchased include patents, rights, trademarks and names relating to CO2 high temperature heat pumps.
“The high temperature heat pumps are an excellent addition to our existing product and service portfolio,” Jochen Hornung, CEO of ENGIE Refrigeration said in a press release.
In 2017, Hafner-Muschler originally took over manufacturing and servicing of high-temp CO2 heat pumps – under the brand ‘thermeCO2 heat pump’ – from German manufacturer of a wide range of CO2 technology Dürr thermae GmbH.
All business activities – construction, production, sale and servicing of CO2-based heat pumps and compressed-air refrigeration dryers – performed for Dürr at the Ottendorf-Okrilla factory in Dresden are now integrated into ENGIE. All employees will be kept on and the business will become a new branch under ENGIE Refrigeration, according to ENGIE.
The machines sold under the thermea brand will now be looked after by ENGIE Refrigeration service network in future.
ENGIE, stated in a press release, that it hopes this acquisition will “further strengthen its position in the field of natural refrigerants”.
