Japanese OEM Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Corporation expects domestic sales of its lineup of CO2 condensing units to exceed 1,000 units in 2021, said Akihiro Yoshimura, General Manager of the Engineering Division, during the FOOMA Japan 2021 exhibition.

FOOMA Japan (short for the International Food Machinery & Technology Exhibition), held in Nagoya, Japan from June 1-4, is one of Asia’s largest exhibitions for food machinery and food processing technologies. The event was last held in 2019, skipping 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The company exhibited its 20HP CO2 condensing unit as well as its “C-LTS” NH3/CO2 cascade system at its booth. The company has recently developed a larger capacity 80HP model for its lineup of CO2 condensing units, scheduled to go on sale this summer.

The development of the 80HP model responds not only to the “rising demand for larger-capacity refrigeration systems [in the cold storage sector], but [will] also expand the range of applications beyond refrigerated storage to further include food freezing and ice making,” a recent statement from the company said.
