Yesterday, Conyers, Ga.-based Hillphoenix published a press release stating it ‘leads the pack’ in GreenChill Store Certifications’.

GreenChill, started in 2007, is a voluntary program run by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that helps supermarkets to reduce refrigerant leaks and transition to climate-friendly systems that use natural refrigerants.

“Our commitment to developing and further improving these technologies illustrates to our customers and the industry that we are dedicated to providing quality, sustainable products to help companies future-proof their business,” said Scott Martin, director of business development and industry relations, in the press release.

Last year, the OEM won the Store Certfication Excellence (Non-supermarket) award from GreenChill for installing refrigeration equipment in 87% of the 2017 number of GreenChill-certified stores (which include Platinum, Gold and Silver certifications). Platinum is the highest certification and is awarded to stores that install natural refrigerant-based systems.

Hillphoenix has also been working with ALDI US (an independently operated member of giant German discount retailer ALDI Süd) to install CO2 transcritical systems in the United States.

The retailer now has 55 GreenChill Platinum-certified stores and 100 CO2 transcritical stores in the U.S. according to a December 2017 webinar hosted by the EPA’s Greenchill. Many of these use Hillphoenix’s refrigeration equipment.

As reported in the September 2017 issue of Accelerate America, 66 of the stores were supplied with Hillphoenix equipment (largely the AdvansorFlex unit designed for smaller formats), with three stores using systems provided by a partnership between Hussmann and Canadian OEM Systèmes LMP.

Derek Gosselin, director, technical product support for Conyers, Ga.-based Hillphoenix, said in the webinar that, “the AdvansorFlex compact CO2 booster system provides [ALDI US] with the flexibility of either an indoor or an outdoor location – depending on site restrictions”.
