The U.S. Environmental Protection Administration (EPA), through its efficiency-promoting Energy Star program, has chosen Howe Corporation to be among the 206 organizations receiving 2021 Partner of the Year awards.
The Partner of the Year awards annually recognize businesses and organizations “that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency achievements,” said the EPA.
Howe, a Chicago, Illinois (U.S.)-based manufacturer, produces commercial flake ice machines, including CO2 (R744)-based models. The company was, for the first time, named Partner of the Year – Product Brand Owner in the Product Design and Manufacturers sector for “its continued improvements in energy-efficient product design and engagement through Energy Star promotional efforts,” said the EPA.
Howe’s key 2020 accomplishments include:
- Promoting the Energy Star message through multiple social media outlets, company website, and virtual trade show booths.
- Engaging with the program further as an Energy Star retail partner, being listed on the Energy Star Dealer and Distributor Locator, and participating in program webinars and partner meeting.
- Implementing building-wide energy efficiency and supply-chain sustainability metrics.
- Designing advancements in technology to meet the demand for low global warming potential refrigerants.
Last November, Howe announced a new CO2 recirculated ice system that can produce up to 1,000lbs (454kg) of flaked ice daily.
