SCMREF THAI (SCMREF (Thailand) Co., Ltd.), a Thailand-based industrial and commercial refrigeration system manufacturer, opened a new CO2 training center at its main office in the Thai province of Samut Prakan, just south of Bangkok, on June 13.
“Our objective is to demonstrate SCMREF THAI’s desire to be a regional leader in CO2 refrigeration systems and know-how,” said Varawut Kvankaew, managing director of SCMREF THAI.
Kvankaew explained that though the market for natural refrigerant systems is still in its early stages of adoption in South East Asia, SCMREF THAI believes that CO2 systems will soon play a key role in the market and the company aims to be well prepared to serve future demand.
The company will be using the training center to train its internal engineers and sales people. “Right now, we are just focused on getting them familiar with the basics of working with CO2, such as the operating pressure differences compared to traditional systems,” said Kvankaew, adding that engineers and technicians will get hands-on experience with commissioning CO2 systems.
“We hope that by educating people, we will boost up the future CO2 trend in Southeast Asia and that people will feel ready for the transition,” he said.
SCMREF THAI is a member of Sweden-based multinational manufacturer and wholesaler Beijer Ref AB.
Beijer Ref has been proactive in pushing for more CO2 training all over the world. It launched its Beijer Ref Academy — a training center exclusively dedicated to CO2 systems — in Italy in March 2018 .
More recently, the company was exhibiting a transcritical CO2 rack at China Refrigeration 2019 , which was held last April.
Beijer Ref China, together with SCM Frigo Italy, supplied a CO2 rack to U.S. multinational Emerson, to be used for training purposes at Emerson’s newly established innovation and research centre in the Chinese city of Suzhou.
