Swedish-based SWEP ‒ a world-leading supplier of brazed plate heat exchangers (BPHEs) ‒ has launched a new product, SWEP B285H, designed for transcritical CO2 (R744) refrigeration systems with up to 550kW (156.4TR) high heat load capacity.

SWEP is part of the global Dover Corporation, headquartered in Downers Grove, Illinois (U.S.). Through its Refrigeration and Food Equipment segment, Dover manufactures and provides support services for equipment, aftermarket parts, components, consumable supplies and digital solutions.

“SWEP B285H has a new plate pattern optimized for high heat load capacities of up to 550 kW as a gas cooler and for a flow capacity above 50m³/h [220gal/min],” Dover said in a press release. The product targets applications with single-phase fluids, high heat loads and demanding pressure requirements.

The new double plate technology withstands pressures up to 140bar (2,031psi), the product’s webpage indicates. “Customers using natural refrigerant CO2 will benefit from [the] frameless solution using less material to achieve higher energy efficiency.”

“The large capacity range yet compact size supports a reduced footprint and lower cost of ownership,” Dover said, indicating the unit meets application demands for heat recovery, heat pumps, hypermarkets and supermarkets.

According to Dover, the larger capacity product complements the existing transcritical CO2 refrigeration product portfolio produced by SWEP, which includes B4T (up to 30kW/8.5TR load capacity as a gas cooler), B18 (up to 150kW/42.7TR as a gas cooler and up to 60kW/17.1TR as an evaporator) and B185 (up to 350kW/99.5TR as a gas cooler).
