The Italian OEM said its study shows there is ‘no problem’ using CO2 refrigeration systems in Latin America.
ATMO LATAM: Transcritical CO2 Is Up to 33% More Efficient Than R404A Systems in Latin America, Says SCM Frigo
Based on five commercial and industrial refrigeration projects across Latin America (LATAM), Italian manufacturer SCM Frigo has found that its transcritical CO2 (R744) systems are 5–33% more efficient than similar R404A solutions. The level of efficiency achieved depends predominantly on the local climate as well as system complexity and the additional technologies deployed, explained Alberto…
According to the Danish manufacturer, the technology offers an ‘efficient and sustainable solution’ for the cold storage facility in Mexico.
Following its first R744 installation at a supermarket in Buenos Aires in 2014, the manufacturer now has systems in nine countries across the region.
Of the chain’s 22 supermarkets across the country, eight have been converted to CO2, with plans to transition 80% of its stores to natural refrigerants by 2045.
The German OEM wants to bring its 17 years of CO2 experience to the Latin American market through TEKO Américas, its joint venture with Colombian manufacturer Weston.
The first in-person ATMO LATAM will take place November 8 and 9 in Mexico City.
This is the second ATMO LATAM and the first to be held in person.
