At China Refrigeration 2015, which gathered over 60,000 visitors and 1,000 exhibitors from across the world, CO2 products were showcased for a variety of applications for both heating and refrigeration. For commercial refrigeration applications, R744.com partners such as Carrier, CAREL, Panasonic, Dorin, SANDEN and Castel, as well as others demonstrated their CO2 know-how.
It was clear at ATMOEurope 2015 that suppliers and end users alike are already charting new territory in order to maximise overall system and building energy efficiency. Integrated CO2 refrigeration systems for CVS layouts from Carel and EPTA Deutschland, CO2 condensing units and the need to scale down solutions for smaller formats were all on topic.
Although in many applications natural refrigerants remained the ‘emerging technologies’ on display, leading companies like Mayekawa, CAREL, thermea. Energysystems and Itomic quickly turned their attentions to Korea to showcase their CO2 technology and share their success stories with R744.com.
R744 innovations from Japan Part 2: integrated systems and improving CO2 system efficiency in warm climates
In part 2 of our reporting on the CO2 technology innovations discussed at ATMOsphere Asia 2015 we focus on the presentations from Carel, Bitzer, and Danfoss on integrated CO2 systems and technologies to increase the energy efficiency of CO2 in warm climates. These include more traditional systems such as mechanical subcooling and newer ones such as parallel compression and ejectors.
In part two of our reporting from the 49th Supermarket Tradeshow (SMTS), which took place from 10-12 February 2015 in Tokyo, Japan, R744.com reports on the first rack-type CO2 transcritical booster system installation, a collaborative project between Japanese showcase manufacturer Fukushima Industries and system manufacturer Nihon Netsugen Systems.
At the 2015 AHR Expo, one of the world’s largest HVAC&R trade fairs, component manufacturers showcased small footprint transcritical CO2 technology; will North American convenience stores opt for these systems?
Three new CAREL controllers providing complete CO2 system management were presented at FMI Energy & Store Development Conference from September 7-9, 2014 in St. Louis (MO). The rack controller pRack pR100T for transcritical CO2 condensing units, pRack pR300 for subcritical CO2 systems, and the pRack pR300T for transcritical CO2 applications are part of CAREL’s range of retail solutions to fully integrate and energy optimise refrigeration.
