Climate Pros, a Glendale Heights, Illinois (U.S.)-based contractor that is a major installer of transcritical CO2 systems, has announced the acquisition of two HVAC&R contractors, Precision Mechanical Contracting and Truetemp Northwest, in May and April, respectively, further expanding its national scope.

Climate Pros has installed numerous transcritical CO2 systems in supermarkets and at least one food processor over the past several years. In the past 18 months alone, the company has deployed transcritical CO2 in about 35 stores, said Climate Pros CEO Todd Ernest.

As Climate Pros acquires other contracting companies, “we will certainly use our national presence to influence more CO2 systems across the country,” Ernest said.

Climate Pros opened a training center in 2017 at its headquarters to instruct its technicians on installing and servicing CO2-based refrigeration systems – transcritical, cascade and secondary. Ernest is an advocate of promoting the benefits of technician jobs, including no student debt and a $75,000 per year starting salary.

Founded in 2006, Climate Pros has been expanding its activities around the U.S. over the past five years, including a series of acquisitions, starting with the purchase of Certified Refrigeration Specialists in California in 2017.

Its latest acquisition, Precision Mechanical Contracting, a Pennsylvania (U.S.)-based mechanical contractor, has “a culture that closely mirrors ours, which made them a perfect fit for Climate Pros,” said Ernest. “We have been working with them for a few years and they have proven to be a company that gets the job done. We are very excited to join with Precision’s talented team to expand our presence in the Northeast as well as becoming a nationwide service provider.”

Washington (U.S)-based Truetemp Northwest “is supported by a hard-working group of people, led by its Founder Butch Havens, who has an impeccable relationship in the industry and their customers, is also known for their quality and responsiveness,” said Ernest. “We are excited to join with Truetemp’s talented team to continue to lead the market in the Pacific Northwest. With this addition to the Climate Pros family, we now expand our service offering in a new region, allowing us to better serve our mutual customers.”

We will certainly use our national presence to influence more CO2 systems across the country.
